Bangladesh is a small country, but it has a great population. At Present, Bangladesh is facing new kinds of problems. The unemployment problem is one of them. Now, it has become one of the most painful problems in Bangladesh. It has also become a most serious problem in Bangladesh.

The word 'unemployment' means "a situation where interested people are out of work." Actually, when qualified and interested people do not get any work to earn their livelihood is called the unemployment problem. Professor Pigou defined unemployment as "A man is only unemployed when he is both not in employment and also desires to be employed."

Unemployment is a great social evil in Bangladesh. An unemployed person is a burden to society, family, and country. There are many reasons behind the unemployment problem in Bangladesh. Rapid growth of the population is the main reason behind the unemployment problem. The defective education system is another cause of the unemployment problem. Lack of technical knowledge, excessive dependence on agriculture, economic backwardness, depression, and lack of social and religious environment are also responsible for the unemployment problem in Bangladesh.

The unemployment problem in Bangladesh has many negative effects. It is an obstacle to all kinds of development in Bangladesh. It gives rise to many social and economic problems in Bangladesh. The unemployed persons are a burden to our nation. They become addicted to drugs and easily get involved in crimes.

Unemployment is a curse for Bangladesh. So, this problem must be solved. If it is not done, the condition will go from bad to worse day by day. Some measures can be taken to control the unemployment problem in Bangladesh. We need to grow public awareness. We need to increase the necessary technical training to solve the unemployment problem. We need to reform the social and religious environment. Economic development of Bangladesh is the fundamental solution to the problem of unemployment. So, the government of Bangladesh should come forward and take proper steps to reduce the unemployment problem in Bangladesh.
