Cynewulf

Cynewulf was the representative poet of the old English Christian poetry. He was the most careful artist among the older poets. He was notable for the skill of his verse and phrasing. His style was free and easy. He was a writer of great influence and a poet of genuine power.

He is one of twelve Old English poets are known by name and one of four whose work is known to survive today.
