William Carey:

William Carey was a British missionary, He was also a translator and an activist. He was born in 1761. He also opened the first University in  India offering degrees. He is known as the father of modern missions. He translated the Bible into Bengali , Oriya, Assamese, Arabic, Hindi and Sanskrit.

In 1801, he wrote a Bengali grammar in English called Grammar of the Bengalee Language.

He was died in 1834.
