Connotation:

Connotation means the indirect meaning of a word. It also means the associations, images, or impressions carried by a word, as opposed to the word's literal meaning.  It has emotional associations or overtone. 

For example, The word "Rose" may suggest a flower. But its connotation  meaning is "beauty, color, and softness."

A connotation may be personal and individual or general and universal.
