Sir David Lyndsay  was an Scottish poet in the Renaissance period. He was born in 1490. He was also a Scottish knightHe was died in 1555 at the age of 65.


Lesson Introduction:

The Dreme was a famous poem of the Renaissance period written by Sir David Lyndsay. It was Sir David Lyndsay's earliest surviving poem. It was written in 1528. This poem has 1134 lines.


Summary:

In the poem The Dreme, The poet went to the hell. In the hell, he found  the pope, the king, Bishop, Arch, Cardinal.  They met together and planned to exploit the poor. Then the poet came back to Scotland and saw the plight of the poor. Then he took the pen against all these. But he died in the face of the cannon of the rulers. However,  he had managed to give a befitting reply through his writings.
