Computer is the best invention of modern science. It is a boon to human civilization. It has become an inseparable part of modern life. It is an electronic machine that can store, organize and find information, do calculations, play music and games and control other machines. It also can perform many other functions. It has no capacity to do anything by itself. It works on the basis of commands given by the operator. The invention of computer has a long history. Charles Babbage was the first invertor of modern computer. A computer has five major components. They are the input unit, the output unit, the memory unit, the control unit, and the arithmetic unit. A computer performs three basic functions. Firstly, it receive data. Secondly, it process data and finally, it emits data. At present, computers are play a vital role in many fields. such as homes, businesses, government, offices, research organizations, educational institutions, medical, entertainment etc. In homes, computers are used to watch movies, play games, listening songs, internet browsing, Facebook browsing, etc. In businesses, computer are used to increase productivity, store, manage account, make reports, presentation etc. In government, computers are used all sectors. At present, computers are broadly used in education and health sectors. It is equally useful in all spheres of life and for all professionals. Every scientific invention has some uses and abuses. Computer has some abuses. It is doing a lot of harm to the teenagers. It has become a fashion with the young people. Young people are so much addicted to computer. So their study is greatly hampered. Over use of computer makes eyesight weak and wastage of time. Besides these negative aspects, computer has brought a great change in modern civilization. It is like Aladdin's lamp. We cannot go a single moment without computers. It is now a part and parcel of our daily life.
